About Plasnomic
Plasnomic provides the industry with a trusted knowledge platform for plastic repair, combining expert guidance with validated testing and real-world performance insights.
We operate as a central authority and collaborative ecosystem, working alongside collision repairers, suppliers, insurers, and recyclers to improve every stage of the plastic repair lifecycle, from initial repair decisions through to end-of-life management.
By closing the industry’s knowledge gap, Plasnomic develops best practices, delivers software platforms for knowledge exchange and professional support, and enables structured repair and product certification.
Projects
Plastic Repair Technical Benchmarking Program
Plasnomic is conducting a structured technical benchmarking program to compare the main repair methods used across the collision repair industry, including adhesives, fillers, hot staples and polypropylene fuse welding. The program combines laboratory testing, real-world repair conditions and technical process evaluation to determine which methods are the most compatible, repeatable, practical and effective. The goal is to support evidence-based plastic repair guidance built on measurable data rather than opinion, habit or individual supplier claims.
Textured Plastic Parts Repair Pilot
The Textured Plastic Parts Repair Pilot is focused on expanding repair opportunities for textured components that are traditionally replaced, including bumper sections, wheel-arch moldings, rocker moldings, cladding, inserts and exterior trim. Working with leading collision repairers, insurers and technical suppliers, Plasnomic is evaluating repair processes, texture products, labor requirements, estimating procedures and quality standards. The project aims to help repairers generate additional labor and gross profit while reducing claim costs, parts delays and unnecessary plastic waste.
Dallas Plastic Repair Excellence Center
The Dallas Plastic Repair Excellence Center is being developed as a live repair, training, research and innovation environment dedicated exclusively to automotive plastics. The center will support real-world repair activity while demonstrating validated repair methods, advanced tools, materials, digital systems and circular solutions. It will provide a collaborative environment where repairers, insurers, OEMs, suppliers and researchers can evaluate new processes and help shape the future of plastic repair.
Certified Plastic Repair Technician and Shop Programs
Plasnomic is developing structured certification pathways for both plastic repair technicians and collision repair facilities. The technician program will combine education, practical training, verified repair experience and competency assessment, while the shop program will evaluate equipment, processes, documentation, quality control and technician capability. Together, these programs will provide the industry with greater confidence that plastic repairs are being performed safely, consistently and to an established professional standard.
Exchange: Digital Knowledge Platform and AI Technical Assistant
Exchange is Plasnomic’s digital knowledge-sharing and technical support platform for the global plastic repair industry. It will bring together training resources, technical guidance, industry discussions, enterprise workspaces and direct access to Plasnomic support. The platform will also include a source-governed AI technical assistant designed to provide answers based on validated repair information, approved documents and trusted industry knowledge, with expert oversight where required.
PlastID: Digital Core and Repaired-Part Passport
PlastID is a digital passport designed to create greater traceability for automotive plastic parts, repair cores and completed repairs. The system will be able to record part identification, ownership, repair history, technician details, materials used, supporting images and quality-control information. PlastID will support repair verification, responsible reuse, core tracking and stronger protection against stolen or undocumented parts entering the supply chain.
Automotive Plastic Waste and Circularity Program
The Automotive Plastic Waste and Circularity Program is focused on improving how damaged plastic parts are collected, assessed, repaired, reused and recycled. Instead of automatically sending removed bumper covers and other components to landfill, the program will establish pathways for repair, remanufacturing, research, material recovery and new product development. The project will also support measurable waste-diversion reporting and help collision repairers, insurers and OEMs achieve stronger environmental and circular-economy outcomes.
Plastic Repair Alliance Council and Global Pilot Network
The Plastic Repair Alliance Council brings together leaders from collision repair, insurance, OEMs, suppliers, training, research and technology to help guide the future direction of automotive plastic repair. Supported by a growing global pilot network, the Council provides industry input, identifies technical challenges and helps evaluate new repair processes, training programs and digital solutions across different markets. Its purpose is to create greater collaboration, consistency and alignment across the entire plastic repair ecosystem.
WHY IT MATTERS
Plastic repair is no longer an alternative, it is a critical capability.
Yet today, many decisions are still driven by outdated assumptions, replace culture, lack of training, and inconsistent understanding of repair methods.
Plasnomic is driving change, working hand in hand with key stakeholders to build confidence to adopt repair-first strategies at scale.
